Description
Uncoated Dove Prisms are mainly used as image rotators in a
variety of opto-mechanical systems. It can rotate an incident image by 180º but without deviating the beam. And when
the prism is rotated about the input parallel ray through some angle, the image
rotates through twice that angle. Therefore the large square reflective surface
should be kept very clean.
Coated dove prisms feature a protected aluminum coating with
black Krylon paint on the diagonals and are ideal for displaced
retroreflection. They are used in imaging systems to view areas behind the
camera or around corners.
